CARING FOR YOUR JEWELLERY
SILVER
Silver is a naturally delicate metal and can easily mark and scratch. The colour may also tarnish when exposed to chemicals (such as creams, soaps, perfumes, hairspray and chlorine!). We suggest you remove your jewellery before coming into contact with these and ensure your silver is kept dry. Silver can be easily cleaned using a solution of 3 parts bicarbonate of soda with 1 part water. Use a soft toothbrush to apply and rinse well. Dry with a soft cloth or paper towel and then use a soft polishing cloth to finish and get it sparkling like new again.
COPPER
If your jewellery has copper elements it will naturally oxidise (get darker) over time. Exposure to heat and chemicals such as perfume and moisturisers can speed this process up. This will create a more organic, aged look. If you want to clean up your copper you can do this easily by dipping it in a little warm water mixed with 1-2 tablespoons of salt and vinegar.
STONES
If your jewellery includes stones ensure to take care when cleaning your jewellery. It is best to try and clean around the stones if using a toothbrish or other abrasive material. You can bring back the sparkle of a gem by dipping it in warm water with a little washing up liquid. Dry with a soft cloth or paper towel and then use a soft polishing cloth to finish.
